  1. Funny how shoes that are in stock are price at the regular price and shoes that are out of stock are “on sale” at a special price. This is true no matter what size your view.

This is clearly a contrived plan to give the impression of a low price when shoes that are in stock are never actually sold at that price.

This is a very poor practice, and I don’t like to feel like I’m being tricked.

  2. These shoes are just ok. In fact, for the money, you could find higher quality and nicer looking shoes. They are quite comfortable. They arrived a couple days late and one show had a scratch on the leather, as if it had already been worn. Overall, I’m less than impressed.

  3. These seem to run a bit on the narrow side, at least for my oddly-shaped feet. I’m a HUGE fan of the Keen Bronx/Briggs (They changed the name a while back) shoes in all black, but I had a heck of a time finding them in all black, which seems odd. You’d think that all black would be pretty easy to find… So I tried these, since they looked to be pretty similar. I’ve completely worn out two pairs of the aforementioned black Bronx/Briggs Keens (most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn!), so I ordered the same size in the Austin, hoping for the same fit.

The leather looks and feels much “cheaper”, and the shoes are much narrower. If I wear anything even slightly thicker than “normal” socks, the are unbearable to wear at work or anywhere you have to sit down for long periods. There’s just this persistent “squeezing” on the middle of my foot that won’t go away until you take the damn things off. I had the same problem with a pair of Clarks a few years ago, and was very dismayed to be having it with these. I tried various shoe stretcher compounds on the Clarks with no success, but the thinner leather on the Austins may yield better results. I hope.

One general note on ALL of the Keens I’ve tried: The soles do tend to wear out rather quickly, and you can’t get them resoled.

Oh, and the laces that came in these are REALLY short. Especially if you’re trying to NOT tie them tightly, in order to keep your poor, poor feet from dying.

Bottom line, decent shoes for folks with narrow feet, but I miss my old Bronx/Briggs…
