Reebok’s United Kingdom-based ancestor company was founded for one of the best reasons possible: athletes wanted to run faster. So, in the 1890s, Joseph William Foster made some of the first known running shoes with spikes in them. By 1895, he was in business making shoes by hand for top runners; and before long his fledgling company, J.W. Foster and Sons, developed an international clientele of distinguished athletes. 1. I ordered this product twice; each time they sent the wrong size. Then they tried to charge me shipping for the return. I will say a phone conversation with Amazon Customer Service later and I think that has been removed. We’ll have to wait and see about that.

  2. If you wear these while standing for more than six hours at a time (meaning your feet would get swollen), they’ll get tight unless you get the ugly wide version ones.

Many people wear these, including old, cheap men so if you like differentiating for them, these aren’t for you.

But most people approve. Only snobby people think these are ugly and they look good with anything (except suits despite what dumb@$$ people try).

  3. Call ‘em throwbacks to an earlier era and it would be accurate. I’ve been wearing these shoes for tennis since about the early 80s and have yet to find anything as good in the interim. The ‘Boks’ are also good for wearing to the gym for weight training, cardio work on the various machines, or just knocking around on a weekend at the Mall or hangin’ with your buds. In short, the shoes do it all and do it well for most any occasion, plus they still look retro cool.

I jazz mine up with some gel and foam inserts to help a little on the pounding of pavement. The leather provides more support than canvas, at least to me although that may be psychological in my case but I prefer the leather tops anyway. I’m guessing you do as well? They look better, last longer and simply ‘feel’ right.

  4. Just what I needed. Husband’s shoes are getting harder to find thanks for carrying them.

  5. I have been wearing these shoes for longer than I can remember… probably about 15 years now. Thank goodness they have not changed. It was always a hassle to get your foot used to a new shoe. Each pair typically lasts me a year before the heel wears through — but I use these shoes for everything ( besides work ). I usually buy two pair at a time. Last time I bought from zappos ( now owned by Amazon ).
