My Columbia trail shoes are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned so when looking for hiking boots I decided to pick up some Columbia boots. The boots were fairly comfortable out of the box and I wore them around the house for hours before deciding to take them outside. I put them straight to work during some El Nino conditions of serious rain in my area. The boots were waterproof, felt very sturdy and the outsole is incredibly grippy. The sizing was spot-on for me however after putting a few miles on these boots they began to painfully dig into the top of my left foot, right where the boot bends with each step. I hoped it would go away, but after 25+ miles overall walking in them and adjusting the laces many times they just wont relent. I hoped they would get better but no luck. It’s unfortunate, as the right foot boot is very comfortable and I’ve always enjoyed Columbia products in the past. I may simply just have an instep that is too high for these boots and I discovered this pain too late to return the product. I still have a positive opinion toward Columbia (my only gripe would be that all their labor is outsourced to asia), and these boots are probably very comfortable and durable for most users, but due to the pain they cause me I cannot use them for their intended purpose, tough offroad trekking. For this reason I went all out and bought a pair of Zamberlan boots (the only boots I could find with nothing but positive reviews everywhere I looked, and not made in China).

Yet another set of beefy Columbia boots. These ones are strong and stiff, they’ll will keep you warm all winter long. The deep tread has shown some great traction no matter the terrain. Their great for being outside!
