  1. I’ve owned two pairs of these shoes. With my high instep, it takes about two or three uncomfortable months to break them (or my feet) in. After that, I like that they can be effortlessly slipped on and off at my desk, but don’t come off accidentally. They also let my feet breathe and not become sweaty or smelly. I also like the extra height from the thick soles.

On the down side, the thick soles have cracked open under the balls of my feet after about ten months from stresses caused by squatting. The uppers are stapled to the soles, not stitched, and the staples also begin to tear out at about ten months. They soles don’t provide appreciable cushioning.

As a result, I only get about seven comfortable months of wear from the “Professional” model.

I’ve tried Dansko’s “Cutter” slip-on model, whose more-cushioned soles didn’t crack until 18 months. However, they can’t be casually slipped on and off, and don’t let my feet breathe like the Professional model does.

  2. At first I found these shoes hard to adjust to. The arches were high, the heel is quite high (almost 2 inches!) and my feet would hurt a little after wearing them. Now, however, they are my favorite shoes. I use them whenever I can. They look great. They feel super! They are well made and are perfect for a teacher like me who is on his feet all day.

  3. Very well constructed and much more professional looking than Crocs, Quarks, and the usual healthcare clogs. A little stiff and taking time to break in like a good pair of hiking boots. Great arch support. No aching feet at the end of a 12 hour shift.

  4. I have had my dansko’s for about one month now. I like them much better than my crocs I have been wearing for the past 4 years. I had switched mainly for arch support which was severely lacking in the crocs. I did like the comfort of the crocs and the tactile feel especially when working a rheostat foot pedal. The dansko’s, however, are not as comfortable and are clunky when working the foot pedal. The dansko’s do offer easy cleaning, great protection from dropped instruments, and are easy on the socks. The downside is they do take some getting used to as far as fit. I don’t find that I am constantly rolling my ankle in them as many people have reported. You cannot wear horribly thick socks such as athletic socks with them even with appropriate sizing. They also have been staining my white socks black because of the oiled leather upper. The instructions that came with them did warn me of this problem. In addition, your feet will sweat allot when you wear these all day. All in all that’s quite a few negatives, but I do believe in knowing the negatives is extremely important. I still think that the dansko’s are far better for your feet than crocs and offer better protections and a more professional appearance than running shoes.

  5. This firm fitting shoe provides great arch support and aligns your body in such a way that it relieves lower-back pain. They take a little getting used to if you haven’t worn a clog before. But they are definitely worth the money. Bottom-line is after years of working as a server and not being able to walk the next morning, I now cook for 8 hours and my feet are quite pain free the next day.
