I searched online for the best deal on these boots and found them in dark brown on Amazon. With my gift card, no tax, and free shipping, I got pretty lucky!
I’d read on [...] that this boot ran small, so I ordered up a half size from my usual 7.5. The size 8s were HUGE, so I shipped them back to amazon. This boot, in my opinion, runs very large. I don’t like boots to be big, with my heel slipping around the back and a gaping shaft. I prefer a closer fit and the better arch support that comes with a tighter fit. I live in CA, so I don’t need to wear very thick socks. I normally wear a 7.5 shoe size; I own two pairs of Ash boots and one pair of BCBG boots in size 7.5. The Frye 6.5 (!! I don’t own any shoes under size 7) fit me well with enough room to tuck in skinny jeans or leggings. Overall, very pleased with the style and quality of these boots so far.

I ordered these boots in the cranberry and they’re absolutely perfect. Here’s what’s to love: the leather is a gorgeous, burnished dark red and goes with many things; the stitching is well done and overall they’re well constructed and appear that with care, they’ll last a long time, as they should for the $$$; they’re very comfortable, especially for a heel this height (after a two mile walk in them yesterday my feet felt great); the studding is chic and different without being flashy at all; they look great with both skinny jeans and dresses/skirts.
A few cautions: these run true to size, but if you live somewhere really cold and want to wear thick socks with them, you may want to go up half a size. The heel has a nice rubbery surface that helps absorb shock and prevents slipping. The sole under the rest of the boot starts out slick, but once roughed up provides decent traction. The shaft is on the narrow side. These *just* fit with skinny jeans over 14″ calves. I like the shaft height as it hits a little below the fullest part of my calves. Boots that hit at the widest part of my calf end up making me look stumpy.
Very pleased with these Fryes.
