After trying on several pairs of Caribous, I decided not to buy and sent them all back. I think they are a serious, heavy duty snow boot and made to last, but not a good fit for me. As everyone says, they run big. I wear a size 6 in street shoes and casual boots; 6.5 in running shoes. I tried both a size 5 and 6 and felt the 5 was the closest fit. My heel lifted too much in the 6. My foot seemed to have enough room in the 5. In medium thick socks, I could spread my toes and touch the front and sides of the toe box. I wasn’t sure this was the way these boots should fit, but I think if I really wanted them, they would have worked. I really wished they made half sizes though. The boots do not have ankle support, are bulky and not comfortable to walk in. Those things coupled with the fact that I live in Los Angeles and will only need snow boots on occasion, made me decide to go with another pair of Sorel boots (Cumberlands, which come in half sizes and are much lighter and comfy for walking). I will add that I ordered 2 pairs of size 5 boots because the right side boot would rub my ankle. Not sure why the left was always fine. Guess it’s me. I did eventually find a pair that fit just fine; no rubbing, but still decided to go with the comfort and practicality of the Cumberland.
I don’t want to knock the Caribous too hard. I believe they are a good boot for the right person and condtions and will last a long time.

I’ve heard great things about Sorel snow boots, and living in Minnesota, snow boots are essential. Since my old boots gave up the ghost after a few years of faithful service, I decided to spend a little extra money to see if Sorels would hold up longer. Given how much snow we’ve accumulated up here, in addition to the sub-zero wind-chills, I was very much looking forward to having warm, dry feet, courtesy of my new Sorel boots. Unfortunately, I received MEN’S boots in the size I ordered, rather than in the women’s size. Accordingly, the boots were HUGE. Due to this error on amazon.com’s part, and the fact that what I’d ordered was now out-of-stock
, they paid for return shipping and refunded my money. (The first customer-service rep failed to provide the return label and refund info within the promised time frame, so I had to contact amazon.com again.) Last I checked, the Sorel women’s Caribou snow boot was still up on the website, despite being out-of-stock. While I appreciate amazon.com taking care of the error, I wish they would update their product pages to correctly display only in-stock items, thereby avoiding unwitting customers’ waste of money, time, and effort.

I am very happy with my purchase. I live in wisconsin, and for the first time when out on the ice helping new snow-kiters, I had warm feet!
Sizes run big. I am a 6.5 normally and got a 5 that with mid/heavy weight smartwool socks is snug, but works.
Very warm boots, they don’t feel clunky and actually don’t look too big.
Love them.
